How to find words with a known ending
Enter the final letter or letter sequence under Ends with. J searches for entries whose last letter is J; ING searches for the consecutive ending I–N–G. Choose Find words to search the bundled two- to fifteen-letter spelling list. You can leave the length open and explore different word lengths in one search.
Open Add other clues to choose a total word length, fix a starting sequence, or exclude letters. A five-letter word ending in ING has five letters altogether, including ING. Starts S and Ends ING can match STING or SWING. Each clue applies to the same word; excluded letters cannot appear even in its start or ending.
This search checks spelling boundaries. NESS matches the end of KINDNESS and FITNESS; the ending does not need to be a grammatical suffix. Other letters may repeat freely. If your puzzle supplies a finite set of tiles, use the word finder from letters to check their available copies. For a confirmed letter in the middle, use known positions.
Results come from our bundled general American English ESDB 2026.02.25 list. It includes inflections, uncommon spellings and abbreviations, and may omit a word your puzzle accepts. It provides spelling candidates rather than an official Scrabble, Words With Friends or Wordle validity check. Read about the word source and limits.

Questions about words with an ending
Can I search without a word length or a rack of letters?
Yes. Enter just the ending to search all supported lengths from two to fifteen letters. Other letters are unrestricted and may repeat. Add a length or starting sequence only when you know it. A finite rack belongs in the main word finder, where each supplied copy is counted.
Do the ending letters have to be next to each other?
Yes. Ends TION requires those four letters together, in that order, at the end of the word. Having T, I, O and N somewhere else is insufficient. The general known-position tool has a separate Include letters filter for unordered letters anywhere in a word.
Why are there no matches for my clues?
Check the total word length, start, ending and exclusions together. An excluded letter cannot also be required by the start or ending. If the clues are consistent, the spelling may be absent from this particular dictionary. We keep your clues rather than silently dropping a filter.
Can I share the same ending search?
After a completed search, Copy search link creates a link with your ending and search clues in its URL fragment. Anyone receiving that link can read the clues. Opening the link fills the form without automatically searching; choose Find words when ready.
