Find words with letters anywhere
Enter one to fifteen required letters under Include letters. Q finds spellings with Q at any position; Q Z finds entries containing both letters, such as QUIZ, QUARTZ and SQUEEZE. Leave the word length open to search every supported length from two to fifteen letters. These are letters a word must contain, rather than a complete set of tiles: additional letters and repeated letters are allowed.
Each copy matters. E E requires at least two Es, so CREPE and LEVEL fit even though the Es are separated. A letter already fixed in Starts with or Ends with counts toward that same requirement. An E at the start plus E E in Include letters needs at least two Es altogether, rather than three. Open Add other clues to choose an exact length, a start, an ending or excluded letters; all your clues apply to the same word.
To search for a letter sequence, check Keep included letters together, in this order. AE then matches the uninterrupted sequence in AERIE, ALGAE or PUPAE, wherever it occurs. APPLE has A and E but does not contain AE together. In the bundled list there are 762 five-letter entries containing A and E anywhere, compared with nine containing the uninterrupted sequence AE.
If you have a finite set of tiles, use the word finder from letters, where every available copy is counted. Use known positions for exact middle positions. When only a boundary is known, words starting with and words ending in search without a rack too.
The source is our bundled general American English ESDB 2026.02.25 spelling list. It includes inflections, uncommon entries and abbreviations, and can omit words accepted by your puzzle. Results do not certify Scrabble, Words With Friends or Wordle acceptance. Read about the word source and limits.

Questions about words containing letters
Do I need to know the word length or every letter?
No. Enter only the letters the word must contain, such as Q or Q Z. With Any length selected, the tool checks lengths two through fifteen. Other letters may vary and repeat. For a limited supply of tiles, use the main word finder instead.
Do included letters need to be together? Do repeats count?
By default the letters can appear anywhere and in any order. E E requires at least two Es, including ones already fixed by a start or ending. To keep your letters together in exactly the order entered, select Keep included letters together, in this order. AE then needs an uninterrupted AE, rather than just A and E somewhere.
Why are some familiar Q words missing?
The general spelling list and a game's word list can differ. QI and QAT are absent from this release, while several abbreviations containing Q are included. Finding or missing a candidate here does not determine its game validity. Check the dictionary used by your puzzle.
Can I share a search with its exact matching rule?
After a completed search, Copy search link preserves the included letters, matching rule and optional filters in the URL fragment. Anyone receiving it can read those clues. The link fills the form without searching automatically; choose Find words when ready.
