How to find words from letters.

This word finder also works as a word unscrambler: it makes words from the letters you have. Type 2–15 letters, with or without spaces. Upper- and lowercase work the same way. Add ? for a blank tile; you can use up to two.

The default search can use some of your letters. With A E L P P and length 5, APPLE fits because the two Ps are available. APPLY does not fit: it needs a Y. Select Use all letters when every letter or blank must be used.

Use starts with and ends with to narrow your candidates. If you know positions instead of a rack of letters, switch to Known positions and put each letter in its numbered box.

Words are grouped by length, then alphabetically. Copy any candidate, expand more results, or reopen one of your last three successful searches. This tool gives candidate words, without definitions or game-specific validity checks.

Make a word from your letters

Choose five letters from this rack. A letter can only be used as many times as it appears.

    A E L P P · 5 letters → APPLE

Find words with a missing letter

The ? supplies one letter. Here it can become a second P or an N.

    A E P L ? · 5 letters → APPLE, PLANE

Search a pattern instead of a rack

Keep C and R at the start and E at the end. Require A somewhere in the word and leave the two gaps open.

    C R _ _ E · includes A → CRANE, CRATE

    Questions about this search

What words can I make with these letters?

Enter your available letters in Letters to words. Matches can use some or all of the rack, without borrowing extra letters. Open Refine your search for a length, starting letters or ending letters; select Use all letters for an exact rearrangement.

How do I search for letters in certain positions?

Switch to Known positions, choose the word length and fill only the numbered boxes you know. Include letters requires letters anywhere; it does not set their order. To require consecutive letters, put them in adjacent boxes or use Starts with / Ends with in the rack search.

Why might a word be missing?

Check repeated letters, blanks and active filters first. The bundled American English spelling list can include uncommon words and omit newer, regional or game-specific words. Results are alphabetical candidates, without definitions, popularity ranking or a guarantee for your game.
