Privacy and your searches.

What this site stores, shares and requests.

Searching

Word searches run in a browser worker using word-data files served by this site. Typed letters and filters are not sent to a search service, external dictionary or language model. Fonts are also served by this site.

Recent searches on this device

The last three searches that return words are saved in this browser's local storage. They include the search conditions, so you can reopen them. The finder does not require an account or sync your searches across devices. Clear history removes these saved searches. Browser storage settings can also remove or prevent them. A storage failure does not block searching.

On a new visit, a compatible saved search can reopen automatically, with a notice explaining the restoration. Anagram and fixed-position tools keep their promised search method when the saved search uses different settings; you can choose to reopen it. A valid shared search takes priority. A fixed-length page does not silently switch lengths: it offers a link to the right tool for a different-length saved or shared search.

Copying and sharing

Copy word writes the selected word to your clipboard after you click. Copy search link writes a URL that contains the search conditions in its fragment (the part after #). Share that link only if you want its recipient to see those conditions. URL fragments are not sent in normal HTTP requests, but a person, browser extension or script with access to the full URL can read them. If clipboard access fails, the text remains available to select manually.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits and tool use. It is optional: its Google tag loads only after you choose Allow analytics. Choosing No thanks leaves searching, copying and recent searches available. We do not send analytics events from before your permission.

When allowed, Google receives clean page addresses, browser and device information, and tool events containing the search method, word length, result-count range and operation time. These events do not include your typed letters, patterns, filters, copied words, search-link fragments or URL query strings. Analytics uses first-party _ga cookies to distinguish visits; these are separate from your local search history. Requests to Google also carry normal connection information, such as your IP address. Google explains its processing in its Privacy Policy.

Your choice is stored on this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are configured to expire after 180 days without extending their expiry on each visit. Use Privacy settings in the footer to change or withdraw permission at any time. Withdrawal blocks further analytics collection and removes this tag's cookies; it does not delete earlier records held by Google. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page.

Advertising storage, advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this integration. A future advertising service will need a separate setup and privacy review.

No advertising service or advertising SDK is active.

Site delivery

Your browser requests page, script, font and dictionary files from the server that serves this site. A hosting provider can process standard request information, such as an IP address, to deliver these files. Hosting and its logging settings must be checked when the site is published.

Return to the word finder or read about the dictionary.
